A side benefit of this is that it also reduces variability in seating because the sizing die hitting increases the consistancy of each pull by causing the press to flex with tension. If you haven't already, adjust the die so it's hitting the shellplate/holder with a little bit of force. How far down a die will size has more to do with the mouth radius, and you are correct to assume that a tight die may not fix your problem. It's funny I got downvoted for pointing out that normal dies can't size all the way down to the base, and then you post this thread.
